Festival of Archaeology

Festival of Archaeology 13th – 28th July

During this time there are 100s of events all over the country celebrating archaeology.

Archaeology is the…

‘study of the study of human history and pre-history through the excavation of sites and the analysis of artefacts and other physical remains’. From the past we can learn about natural remedies and medicines and those that are still around.

Essential oils were known to be used in healing and as medicines since 3000-2500 B.C. the Egyptians are to be given credit as the first culture to use aromatic extracts for beauty care, cooking, spiritual and physical wellbeing. Today we use essential oils in aromatherapy and aromatherapy massage.

Born in France in 1881, René-Maurice Gattefossé is regarded as the Father of Aromatherapy. A famous French chemist and scholar, in 1910 he discovered the properties and results of the essential oil of lavender after burning himself during an experiment. Lavender essential oil increases cell regeneration which speeds up the healing time and in many cases leaves none or little scaring.

Today many essential oils are used in skin care products for their anti-ageing properties

Such as:

  • Geranium Essential Oil
  • Carrot Seed Essential Oil
  • Argan Essential Oil
  • Sandalwood Essential Oil
  • Myrrh Essential Oil
  • Rose Essential Oil
  • Frankincense Essential Oil

If you don’t want to start looking old or older than you are then a good skin care regime is paramount. Your skin is your largest organ and needs to be treated with great care. The younger you start this the better. Certain activities, such as smoking, excessive alcohol and a bad diet and toxic environment will speed up the ageing process. Good activities would include drinking water, exercise, getting out in the fresh air, minimal stress and the right skin care products for your skin.

If you are not sure which products to use look for free samples in stores and speak to your local salon. They may offer mini facials to try out different products to find out what suits you best.

If you would like a “try before you buy” £25 facial then please get in touch.
